A Guest Review by Raine

Summary Review: To quote Liam- ‘cos so much of his tongue in cheek humour begs repeating, this erotic episode is a-  dirty delicious tangle of flesh.”

Blurb: The sequel to Amber Allure’s Best Seller The Art Of The Delaneys…

Liam and the sexy Delaney twins embark on their dating experiment with gusto. Their first encounter at the local cinema proves explosive, but Liam still wants more from them than just hot sex. Luckily so, it appears, do the Delaneys.

With this in mind, the twins whisk him away one weekend for a late-summer picnic in the countryside. Once there, Liam is delighted to see the lengths the Delaneys have gone to in order to provide a romantic dating experience. As their date comes to a climax, however, the twins have a startling proposal.

Is Liam really ready for what they have in mind?

Review:

Wave reviewed Me and the Delaneys here. There have been two other books, Entertaining the Delaneys and The Art of the Delaneys before we reach this the latest one. I’m going to indulge in a quick catch up overview rather than individual reviews on these earlier episodes in the exciting life of Liam and his two partners in sex, Mark and Johnny. They are short  (usually between eight and ten thousand words) serial and plot progressive erotic encounters. The books are set only a few weeks after Liam’s first terrifying but sexually thrilling adventure with the twins.

These amoral professional criminals vaguely call to mind the occasionally benevolent psychosis of the Kray brothers; neighbourhood gangsters keeping the supposedly worse criminals out. Mark is the dominant personality, genuinely frightening, casually violent and sexually opportunistic. While Johnny is clearly a calmer character and rather more reasonable- they are both dangerous men. The love, fraternal and sexual, between them is actually strangely moving. The background is cleverly evoked with very few words, an urban and suburban middle England. Unlike Wave, I really liked Liam and thought him a great anti hero, though I’ll concede he gives good grovel. I found him a wide eyed smart arse- full of cheek and charm, bravely chancing his arm as he explores his newly discovered submissive tendencies. His voice is characteristic; sexy, sluttish, bright, funny, smart, occasionally naive and simply fun.

Each of the brief but intense stories explores a sexual encounter, often adding a new element of kink but also the surprising development of bizarre intimacy and even warmth. Entertaining the Delaneys is particularly good, introducing group sex with a dash of voyeurism but in a peculiarly amusing business like way. Liam carefully asserts himself and manages to avoid what felt like a bad career move. In the next helping, possibly my least favourite, bondage and the chance of a longer term for their odd evolving relationship is added to the mix.

Now to the most recent book, Dating the Delaneys deals with the brothers’ rather nonconformist thoughts on what dating means. Their ideas seem ordinary but quickly turn adventurous involving an outrageously exhibitionist trip to the flicks. I will never be able to watch Four Weddings and a Funeral in quite the same way. It is here that Liam who has clearly been doing some BDSM research finally put a more formal title on the way their relationship has been heading. There is the growth of a clumsy and strange sweetness in some of the interactions between the brothers and Liam. Though Mark still does really good menace. However yet another ostensibly traditional and romantic picnic date  but with more exhibitionism and some very hot domination leads into the tease for the next story.

I really enjoy these stories; the writing is so very distinctive, with intelligent erotic kink and the soundtrack of Liam’s voice over adding often unexpected humour. I preferred it when there were no formal labels to the way the threesome were acting and it felt like the twins in particular were somewhat haphazardly exploring something they had forbidden themselves. However in the latest story Liam in particular now knows what he needs. I’m looking forward to the next installment and just wish the stories were longer……

Thanks so much, Raine – really appreciate this! I would try to make the episodes longer and closer together but it’s tricky sometimes to get Liam untangled from the Delaneys just in order to chat to him about what he’s been up to … :)

Lordy, do you think I need help?!?

    Anyway, thank you again

No no no Anne……I’m sure your mental health is as good as mine……

Actually, I also think the intensity of each episode almost balances the brevity; these are larger than life characters in some ways but the setting is so matter of fact……such fun.

      Thank you.

I love this series, it’s fun and light and I like Liam’s voice (now if Amazon would get on board, I could read this one too!)

I think Liam’s voice is so much fun and very original.

Can you not get it from AQP and drag it to your reader? I find I get better deals that way by buying in dollars rather than pounds, but I see that probably won’t work for you…….

Thanks, Finn! Yes I’ve asked Amber Allure to chase up why Amazon haven’t uploaded it (it’s been available since November …) and they’re working on this now. So I hope it will be up there soon!!

    Many thanks again

Sorry if I didn’t make it clear, Sirius this is the fourth in the series, I didn’t write much about The Art of the Delaneys I guess……my bad.

Really glad you like these guys.
