I’ve read the Wolfman series (1-3) by Brannon Black. Has anyone else? It’s not the ”usual” werewolf scenario. If you can get past the horribly tacky ”covers”, you may like them. [Apologies to the cover artists but it's just not my "thang".] They’re very short at less than 100 pages but she does a wonderful job of developing the characters. Not a huge amount of world building but I don’t need that in every book. There is some clever and funny dialogue and I’m hoping she’s going to continue the story of Daniel and Mace.

Finally gave in to temptation and purchased A Different Breed by Angel Martinez. Disappointing. If I’d browsed it at the bookstore it wouldn’t have passed the ’ten page’ rule. Insta’ change of attitude, insta’ lust, insta’ trust…just shoot me now. Not well developed, and may well become DNF. On the other hand, Partnership in Blood Series III, Conflict in Blood by Ariel Tachna seems to be improving as the series progresses. Not without it’s flaws but still very readable.

I’m trying to read ”Virgin Shifter” by Melanie Thompson….has anyone else read it? I’m plodding through; I think the difficulty is the dialogue is off, all people (so far) are just kinda weird and not engaging. One of the protags is a panther shifter who her and his 3 y/o daughter are the last of their kind….their purpose to kill vampires. The other protag was kidnapped from Russia *by* vampires and brought to Seattle as a sex slave. He’s had a difficult time, yes, but I’m only on page 55 and *I* was to smack him and tell him to quit crying!

Finished and I only gave this book an ok. There were just to many issues, that I found weird. It’s suppose to be suspensful, but I just wasn’t feeling it.

How disappointing for you…..so don’t like being disappointed in a book. For me, sometimes the 2nd time is much much better and I can get more into a story. Not always but sometimes. Of course, some are just too bad and/or weird, they don’t get a 2nd chance.

I’ve just started reading Lex Valentine’s ”Tales from the Darkworld” series. These are the first of this genre I’ve ever read. Very different from my norm but I’m enjoying them.

Denni, it was a good read, different from normal shifter books, and that’s what I loved, hot rough sex, nice change. Moved quickly and I would read more of hers.

PsyCop was mentioned on another site. Has anyone else read Jordan Castillo Price’s other series, Channeling Morpheous and Sweet Oblivion? I have and enjoyed them….not to the level of Vic and Jacob, of course, but very fun and quirky! They fall in the vampire genre.

Don’t think I’ve read Sweet Oblivion (or is it related to CM?). Enjoyed Channeling Morpheous for Scary Mary…I’m sucker for non-traditional characters :)

I know, Scary Mary is just a fun name. Sweet Oblivion is simply the continuation of CM; no idea why the name of the series switched. If there’s a reason, I obviously missed it.

The bad boy and the goth boy in eyeliner, a fun break from mainstream characters. Hmmm, maybe I’ll hunt it up and re-read it soon :) JCP has a great writing style and made it work so well!

I never go into those….or really even that author. I’ve tried but it just isn’t there.

LindaC….Mary Calmes is doing a 3rd story in Change of Heart? Good, because I thought the 2nd one ended rather ”open”. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the 1st one but not sure why. I re-read again couple weeks ago and like better but the concept (panther shifters) is pretty cool

Per her blog she will do another story for Jin & Logan. (There will be a novella for Timing also which is another favorite of mine.) I need to reread Trusted Bond again also, I devoured it the first time. I think I didn’t love it as well as COH because Jin and Logan spent so much time apart. I wanted more togetherness. But it was an awesome story.

My all time favorite in this genre? Hmmm, that’s a toughie. JL Langley is always good, but been awhile since her last paranormal print release. Fallen Star by Morgan Hawke has a unique view of vampires, but those are more space opera. A couple others are close, but still not the right genre….apparently I have an ’all time’ favorite spot waiting to be filled.
